Timperley vs Chester Ladies 1st XI

A fairly overcast day was an omen for the match that followed. Following the unavailability of a few key squad members, Chester were assisted by Martine Green, Jilly Parker and Rachel Payne who stepped up to the 1st XI.

From the first push back Chester were put under a large amount of pressure with the main opportunity for attack coming from breaks following Timperley overloads.

The first two Timperley goals came from short corners with Chester equalising after the first with a superb strike from Laura Houlston. Chester put good pressure on the Timperley deffence after the equaliser and were unlucky not to convert several opportunities. Chester went into half time 2-1 down having soaked up a great deal of pressure.

Chester conceded again at the start of the second half from a well worked Timperley goal from open play, poor marking leading to Timperley walking the ball into the back of the net. Chester had several opportunities soon after the goal, with one goal being disallowed. The final goal came from some good 3D hockey from Timperley, again from open play, lifting the ball high into the back of the net.

Coaches Paddy Bingham and Pat Wells were understandably dissapointed after the game but it was safe to say the girls worked extremely hard, everyone giving their all and pushing to equalise, however it just wasn't to be.
