Chester Ladies 1 vs Didsbury Greys Ladies 1
Chester 2 - Didsbury Greys 1
At first Chester ladies were unable to find their tempo and rhythm and their play was easily broken down by the opposition. However as the game progressed the ladies soon realised that the ball needed to move quickly in order to create any chances moving up the pitch. Despite Chester's defensive efforts, an unfortunate foul in the D led to a short corner whereby Didsbury were able to sneak one past keeper Becky Holland. This consequently meant the ladies went into the second half trailing. However from the very beginning of the second half Chester showed much more aggression and looked much more comfortable with the ball. After a sneaky interception from forward Rachel Huber, Didsbury found themselves in a dangerous position with 3 other Chester players lingering in the D, eventually Claire Tyrie was able to find the back of the net with an impressive hit from the edge of the D. Subsequent play from Chester following the goal showed much more promise. By using the width of the pitch more often the ladies were able to create numerous more chances than the first half. A great ball from Fran Hughes lead to a cracking deflection from Sophie Drew meaning for the first time in the game Chester were ahead Despite some aggressive play and choice language from the opposition, Chester were able to remain level headed and calm going into the final few minutes of the game. The ladies continuing efforts throughout the game earned them their first three point of 2017, hopefully the first of many to come.
