Chester 4 - 5 Harrogate

Chester Ladies 1s vs Harrogate Ladies 1s

Chester 4 - 5 Harrogate

After a week off due to adverse weather, it is fair to say that Chester ladies started the game off on the back foot. An early break from Harrogate resulted in the first goal of the match, which was shortly followed by an unfortunate penalty flick. However it was Chester that dominated the last several minutes of the first half. With the defensive line pushing forwards the visitors were under pressure and Chester's Maisie McDonald reverse stick goal was able to help Chester find a way back into the game going into the second half. Even though Harrogate started the second half with another well worked goal the start of the second half saw a much more composed Chester ladies side, whereby they were able to keep possession and control the tempo of the game. Eventually after long periods of pressure upfront, Nia Hughes was able to skilfully beat almost the entire Harrogate defensive line including the keeper and find the back of the net to keep Chesters chances of a comeback alive.

Chester gained momentum and a short corner meant that Fran Hughes stepped up to unleash a brilliant flick past the keeper to level the score at 3-3. Chester's Rachel huber was also able to push one past the keeper, pushing the ladies in front for the first time in the game with only 5 minutes to go. However it was Chester who lacked concentration and a strong Harrogate side were able claw back a win with two luck goals. A disappointing result for the ladies but a game that showed great promise pushing forward.
