This week saw Chester ladies produce their best start to a game this season. The ladies started the game pushing forward and in the first couple of minutes created several positive chances. Although Newcastle were able to break quickly on a couple of occasions Chester were able to defend without great difficulty. Chester continuing pressure up front resulted in Chester's first goal of the match with an excellent half volley from Claire Tyrie, which was shortly followed by an superb deflection from Katie Griffiths from one of Chester's several corners and taking the Chester ladies into a 2-0 within the first 15 minutes of the game. The score remained the same going into the second half and Chester were still able keep hold of the ball in the final third, but were unable to convert any of their many chances. However Newcastle were able to fight back in the final 10 minutes and after another remarkable off line save from Chester's Fran Hughes, Newcastle were eventually able to find the back of the net on the back of Chester momentary lapse of concentration and ladies were unable to keep a clean sheet. Another great performance from the all the ladies resulted in another very well deserved win which will see the ladies climb up the league table.
