A win was the only option on the cards for the ladies first team after two away defeats on the bounce. However, this in mind (and the weather) couldn't dampen the spirit as everyone turned up excited to get on the pitch for the first home match of the season. Chester started off strong; dominating possession, winning short corners and playing with both flare and style Leeds just didn't seem to have an answer but as time pressed on the chances kept flying by to no prevail. As the half time whistle blew frustration was beginning to mount, could they be throwing away their chance of gaining the 3 points they deserved?

The second half started with even more intensity and it was only a matter of time before a rocket of a slapshot came into the circle from Fran Hughes and was met by Emily Garner to deflect a debut goal straight past the keeper. Never to rest on their laurels this only seemed to spur the ladies on. The intensity didn't drop and after some beautiful passages of play and movement around the pitch the ball came into the the circle again. After the keeper kicked the ball up a composed Tina Roper volleyed it into the back of the net to make it 2-0 with 10 to go. An awesome effort from the girls producing the first, well deserved points of the season.
