Chester 6 - Llandudno 0

Snap...! Another week another 6-0 win for the Mighty 6s. It’s getting to be a habit :-)

A wet drive along the A55 to see our Welsh friends at Llandudno was rewarded with a break in the rain just in time for push back.
The first half was a little edgy for the Chester side. The opposition was an eclectic mixture of youth and experience who changed their formation several times and it took a while for the 6s to settle down and play as a unit. Following several missed opportunities, the first Chester goal came with a solid strike from leading goal scorer Chris Curry via a slick short corner routine. A second goal followed courtesy of weave and run master Marcus Jeremy.

A half-time hair dryer from Captain Pete Lloyd-Brown focused on communicating better as a team with “listen and pass” the key message which seemed to work with the second half performance starting much better. In fact, it would be fair to describe the last 35 minutes as “The Andy and Andy Show” with the whole team completing perfect pass and run movements across the pitch. Ed Richards, Neil Gordon and Man of the Match Andy Hampson made some great link ups in mid field feeding returning superstar Ian Thomas and a rampant Andy Howell who clinically banged in his first hat trick of the season. Not to be outdone Chris Curry also claimed a second goal.

Shouts outs to our usual characters are also due. Pete Cunnington was always in the right place and Roger Thompson was vocal in his position on the left wing. The defensive wall of Peter Lloyd-Brown, Tom Arnold and Malcolm Padmore expertly marshalled by 13-year-old keeper Harry (stepping up from Juniors for the second time this season) communicated and covered the opposition brilliantly. We’ll always take s clean sheet!

All in all, a welcome result and the team amazingly remains top of the league for another week.

Next week we look forward to welcoming a Runcorn team with something to prove back to Chester. Who’s up for it...!
