Chester Men 6 vs Birkenhead Men 1s
Chester 0 - Birkenhead 4
The score doesn't really reflect it but the Men's 6s continued their excellent run of form against the runaway league leaders. In a well fought and good natured match the Chester defence fought off a tide of high tempo attacks by the experienced Birkenhead side. In turn the Blues spent plenty of time in the opposition 23 but couldn't convert some skilful play into goals. It would be difficult to pick a man of the match as the whole team played to their maximum. Key moments that stand out however include goalkeeper Pete Clewes making an excellent extended right foot save on the line; Barry Standen weaving his way past three players on the side line; Dave Spender taking his first shot on goal and Ed Richards distributing with power and skill. The team enters the mid season break pleased with their progress and looking forward to picking up sticks again in January.
