The 5s continued their fine run of form and right from the start terrorised the Bowdon defence with a series of lightening raids inspired by Nicholas and Rogers aided by arch forager Selley whose instinct for goal caused panic in the circle. Sustained pressure soon produced a couple of scoring opportunities for the forwards with Andy Ollies controlling the ball superbly to lash home his second goal in two games which was soon followed by a predatorial strike by Selley a metre from the goal line. Bowdon’s youngsters struck back scoring a couple of goals as the ball bounced kindly for them in the circle while the defenders were working out which of the six or seven players flooding the area to mark – the enthusiasm of youth making its mark!

After another fine move starting with a typical Uddin defence splitting pass Feeney latched on to the ball, scurried into the circle and hammered an accurate shot beyond the keeper into the far corner for a real collector’s item of a goal.
Turning round at half time with 3 goals each a revitalised Chester chose to follow the half time advice and passed the ball superbly round the pitch with Lawrence, Cuthbertson and Ollies keeping the game flowing with considerable skill and intelligence. Uddin duly scored an outstanding short corner goal by neatly flicking the ball to the vacant right post area and Selly captivated the impressed crowd with two classic conversions collecting outstanding passes from Nicholas and Rogers to deceive the keeper to flick the ball home. The fifths move on to their final league game against Keele University planning to attempt to capitalise on the students’ poor numeracy skills and field 13 players from the start to help compensate for the somewhat wide age difference between the two sides.
