Chester 6 - Bebington 3

Under considerable pressure from the start Chester defended well and fought tenaciously to regain possession and display their own attacking prowess. A quick counter attack started by Tony Nico with a pass out of defence to Chris Nico who cleverly evaded two players and passed to Rich Nico who flashed a vicious reverse stick shot past the keeper opened the scoring for Chester. Moments later after good work from Chris Jones and Lawrence in midfield Rich Nico picked up and controlled an awkward ball in the circle to once again beat the keeper with a clever shot to score his second goal but sadly then had to leave the pitch to protect his injured knee. After intricate midfield play Chris Jones then found the corner of the goal with a cleverly struck shot that deceived the stranded defence. Chester’s 4th goal arrived when Hall pounced in cobra like fashion on a loose ball in midfield, raced down the wing and rocketed a thunderous cross into the circle which a flying Olliers at full stretch acrobatically glanced past the keeper to score one of the goals of the season. Helped off the pitch after injuring his ankle in this valiant effort Olliers returned in the second half to cap a fine performance by scoring his second goal of the game. Chester continued to threaten the Bebington goal and after fine play from Dom and Feeney in midfield Lawrence controlled a bouncing pass, sprinted past two defenders into the circle and guided the ball into the corner of the goal with his trademark elegant, long range push finish. The 5ths were indebted to debutant keeper Tim Warner who rushed back from his son’s game of football to produce a commanding display to help the team achieve this important ninth victory of the season.
