Chester travelled to not so sunny Southport looking to build on recent good results. Chester dominated possession and looked dangerous in attack.
The deadlock was broken when the ball fell nicely to Adam Cliffe who calmly slotted the ball home. Chester continued to attack with the blistering pace of James Nairn and Paul Cieplak giving the Southport defence a torrid time. The 2nd goal came when Alex Miller calmly finished from a rebound following a penalty corner. Chester's defence were rarely troubled however a loose pass from Ben Mckrill lead to a 1 on 1 with keeper Alex Hyman, with the latter pulling off a fantastic stick save to keep the score 2-0 going into half time.
The 2nd half, saw the need for an ? orange ball as the snow ⛄️ continued to roll I’m off the sea but the game continued in similar fashion, with Ste Hall leading by example with his work rate . The hosts pressed high looking for a way back into the game which left their defence exposed to Chester's fast break away. When #Chester got their 3rd through Duncan Langston the floodgates opened. Langston doubled his tally when Cieplak won the ball deep in midfield before slipping it in on the edge of the D, Langston dispatched excellently chipping it over the keeper. Miller then doubled his tally after his first shot was saved, he calmly finished flicking over the flailing keeper.
To finish, a trademark Lewis Done short corner making the score 6-0 a good away day win on a cold a dull day. Queue lots of beers.
