On Saturday the 18th of November, Chester men’s 2’s played top of the league side Lymm. After coming back from a difficult result last weekend, the team were hungry for a result against this unbeaten opposition.
The match started with extremely high intensity as Lymm pressured #Chester in our own 25 and peppered the goal, forcing the nimble Joe Laws to make a number of stupendous saves. After a few minutes Chester handled this situation well and started to control the game from the back with calm hands from Lee Davies and Matthew Scott This gave our forward line the opportunity to drive and slip through the opposition’s startled defence, a marvellous counter attack led to a short corner awarded to Chester, the opportunity fell Ben Scott who rocketed the ball through the keeper. A shaken Lymm fought hard to fight back and managed to squeeze one past Chester’s man of the match Joe Laws in the last few minutes of the first half.
The second half Chester worked hard to make sure they had a result from this chatty and well oiled opposition, Chris Nicholas tirelessly broke up play, which proved difficult in the final few minutes of the game but Chester’s defensive unit stayed calm and effective as their work rate could not be faulted in this exciting match between two eager opponents. The match ended 1-1 which seemed a little disappointing but after last weeks events, Chester bounced back and played well with good grit and determination.
The lads then enjoyed a nice meal after the game at Llym’s Club house which was the icing on the cake to a good day away from home. Man of the match was given to Joe Laws for a fabulous display in goal and James Maudslay was given a puppey patrol plaster as his efforts left him bleeding for his team!
