Chester new this was going to be a tough fixture and changed tactics to nullify the Triton threat. The play started briskly and Chester were well up for the match, the Triton keeper being forced into a string of high quality saves. David Joyce in the Chester goal was only really called on to make 2 good short corner stops.
The second half started in the same vein as the first with Chester dominating all aspects of the game but unable to breach the Triton Goal. The home side won a penalty stroke after the ball was stopped illegally on the line; only for the conversion to strike the post. Triton scored with 10 minutes to go, but Chester did not let their heads go down and battled hard committing fully to the attack. Triton won a penalty corner with 3 minutes to go and were able to cement their lead. Chester put in one of their best performances but left with no reward.
