Chester travelled to Macclesfield who are the current form team in the league. The game was a close affair with both sides creating half chances before the break. Tryfan Venables was in excellent form and linked well with Rob Cobbain and Matt Ricketts in the heart of the Chester defence Chester took the lead when Aidan Davidson finished from close range following a period of Chester pressure. Macclesfield responded with a penalty corner which crept in at the far post. The visitors were then pressed hard and Macclesfield benefited from a wicked looping deflection from a shot with only 5 minutes to go. However Lewis Done's side responded by raising the tempo and Ben Cook rampaged forward to smash home an equaliser. It was an excellent game of hockey before the mid season break.
