Chester started the league season strongly. The side dominated the first half with the midfield led by Captain Lewis Done providing the platform For Gaz Humphries to score a season opening hat-trick. At half time Macclesfield re organised and were tougher to break down, however Lewis Done was able to provide a pinpoint ball for Stevie Hall to deflect home. Macclesfield converted a Short corner and scored a late goal as the hard working Chester Midfield tired however the result was never in question.
