Without wanting to make excuses, Chester found it difficult to get going at this away trip to Sheffield. Heavy traffic brought the team to former captain Chris Platt's new club just 20 minutes before pushback.
A solid defensive display from Neil McLeod and the Chester backline kept Sheffield down to one at half time, and a coolly taken goal by Simon Jones meant it was all even at the break. A fit, strong Sheffield team pushed on in the final twenty minutes, and despite a superb finish from Australian Brett Dempster, the home team managed to convert three clinical moves to run out 4-2 winners. Chester will host league leaders Formby at the County Officers this coming weekend.
