Off the back of last week’s disappointing loss they decided to take the game to opponents Didsbury Northern straight from the first whistle. Under the captaincy of Tom Fairbairn they enjoyed a strong opening half and were quickly three goals ahead thanks to Simon Jones and a Steve Edmonds brace.
Didsbury stepped up their efforts in the second half but remained unable to match Chester’s intensity. The result was all but sealed when Australian Brett Dempster struck on his reverse although concerns arose when prolific striker Edmonds' game was cut short with a ligament injury. There was time for the visitors to grab a consolation in the dying minutes, but Chester will visit Sheffield Bankers next week after running out comfortable 4-1 winners on the day.
