Chester started well and looked to be taking a 2-1 lead into the break, however the visitors pounced on a mistake and levelled the score. Chester then made a number of errors allowing Wakefield to snatch a 2 goal lead. The home side pressed hard only to have a goal disallowed. Chester continued to press but as they poured forward Wakefield were able to press home a counter attack.
