Chester had a 6:30am meet time (with a 4am start for Duncan travelling from Wales) for their trip to Whitley Bay and Tynemouth. After a pleasant journey with only a few wrong turns and fifteen minutes heading south on the A1, Chester quickly settled into their rhythm. In the tropical sleet and driving wind Chester opened the scoring after club chairman Simon Jones held the ball up well in the D, before finding Tedd Mason who got the ball going towards goal for Jones to then finish off. Unfortunately this was as good as it got as Whitley Bay hit back and then took the lead before half time. The home side's physical tactics took their toll with Chester players picking up injuries and the lead was stretched through clinical counter attaching goals. Chester continued to plug away and created chances but couldn't add to their tally and the game finished 5-1 to Whitley Bay. Chester will take positives from the fact that
