Chester Men 1 - Timperley Men 1
Chester 4 - Timperley 1
Chester hosted Timperley on a bright Saturday afternoon for the first game of February for both teams. Chester started strongly and dominated possession in the early stages with John Roper and Aled Bennett distributing well from defence. The pressure soon told as Chester took the lead through Brett Dempster, who finished superbly with an upright reverse following Jim Challenlor's penalty corner being saved. Matt Phillips doubled Chester's lead before Teddd Mason turned neatly in the dee and fired in to the roof of the net to put Chester 3-0 up at the half time break. Shortly in to the second half, Matt Phillips made his onlooking mother proud, doubling his tally for the day with a well taken goal. Timperley pulled a goal back through an unorthodox penalty corner, but any chances of a comeback were snuffed out by Chester's defensive work, with man of the match and Edge hockey ambassador Chris Myles standing out. Neither team added to the score in the closing stages with Chester taking a welcome 3 points.
