Mens 1s vs Brooklands MU Mens 2s
Chester 2 - Brooklands 4
Chester travelled to South Manchester and faced a Brooklands side with top division experience on their new AstroTurf pitch. The new surface made for a lively encounter and Brooklands took an early lead after a ball bobbled through to an unmarked striker who finished past keeper Matty Francis. Chester hit back immediately after James Challenor played a ball from his own half which split the defence for Andy Murray to take one touch to score on his first appearance of the season. The game then continued at a fast pace with both sides having chances in an even first half. After the break Brooklands went 2-1 ahead from a penalty corner. Chester then pushed up for an equaliser but conceded another after a counter attack. James Challenor scored a drag flick from a penalty corner to make it 3-2 and the Blues then pushed again for an equaliser, hitting the post and forcing the keeper into several saves. Unfortunately they could not put the ball away and in the last few minutes Brooklands stretched the lead to 4-2 after another counter attack.
