After last weeks outstanding performance Chester were stifled by an enthusiastic Neston side. Neston started brightly, causing the Chester defence problems and forcing a string of errors. Keeper Daf Jones making a smart save in the opening minutes. Chester took the lead through James Challenor and a precise penalty corner and went into half time in control.

The second half did not see Chester hit their groove, however a good debut from Aled Bennett and a strong performance from Tryfan Vennables were highlights. However, a number of good chances went begging and Neston seized the opportunity to equalise via a penalty corner. Chester’s defence was again breached with a well taken shot. As the game developed Chester pushed hard and a fine save from the Neston Keeper denied Dave Hughes as the final whistle went.
