Chester travelled to a snowy north east. The longest away fixture of the season saw Chester control the game from start to finish. Coach Matt Oakley demanded a high level of performance and the side delivered. Chester opened the scoring as Andy Murray Bundled the ball home, then Simon Jones doubled the lead. Newcastle made a game of it by scoring from a penalty corner however their threats were few and far between.
Chesters defence was masterful providing the platform to launch counter attacks. Brett Dempster span and shot smartly to bag a third and man of the match James Nairn slipped the ball smartly passed the advancing Newcastle keeper. Newcastle grabbed a late consolation however the points were secure and Chester remain second in the league.
