Chester saw off a potentially tricky opposition in City of Manchester with whom they drew 4-4 away. The home team took the lead early, rampaging around the Manchester goal. James Challenor scored the first of his hat-trick of penalty corners to set the home side on the path to victory. The youthful Chester goalkeeper David Joyce made several fine saves on his debut. Chester led 4 goals to one at the break.
The second half saw Chester extend their lead with little resistance, Manchester were able to score off one counter attack however the deva side maintained their concentration to secure 3 points and a healthy goal difference.
