Chester displayed early season grit and determination to overcome an on form opposition. Chester took an early lead scoring from open play and consolidating from a well executed drag flick penalty corner that left the keeper stranded. Didsbury rallied and Scott Cordon their former England and Great Britain star won two further penalty corners that were well converted. Didsbury then took the lead early in the second half only for Chester to equalise. A frenetic period followed with both sides loosing players to the sin bin before Didsbury once again converted from a penalty corner. However rallying cries from the Chester skipper inspired a tremendous comeback, Didsbury rocked then faltered and Chester equalised and then Simon Jones ghosted in to steer home a difficult chance at the far post.
