Chester welcomed Timperley in the EH Cup and put a disappointing result in the league behind them with a dominant display. Some slick interplay allowed Chester to enter the 'D' at will and new signing Ted Mason struck two goals. Timperley hit one back with a drag flick from a penalty corner but never looked like troubling the Chester defence further. Tryfan Venables stretched the lead with a cool finish from a rebound after another good team move. Chester kept up the onslaught and Adam Cliffe added a tap in and buried one in the top corner, although could and should have completed his hat trick when he spurned an easy chance at the back post. Overall Chester ran out comfortable winners with plenty to build on ahead of next week's league match away to Formby.
