A sunny afternoon saw Chester Men's 1st team begin their Cheshire Cup campaign away at Wilmslow. The game started on a sour note with an early injury to Captain Paul Cieplak. Following the stoppage the team settled into their rhythm and took the lead through James Nairn. Wilmslow got back on terms before Brett Dempster put Chester ahead again. The game then turned scrappy as Wilmslow pressed for an equaliser and Chris Myles received a green card for a cynical challenge. Despite the pressure the young Chester defence featuring Aled Bennett, Max Jones and Aidan Davidson stood firm and James Challenor sealed the win with a flick from a penalty corner. Chester go into the hat for the next round and begin their league campaign away to Leeds next Saturday.
