Chester secured promotion last week to the North Premier league and were looking to finnish the season on a flourish against the third placed team. Didsbury had kept pace with high flying Chester for the majority of the season and were looking to their quality. In the first half both sides probed each other and Chester almost opened the scoring, however following a swift move down the right of the pitch Didsbury smashed home from close range.
Chester's response was swift, decisive and devastating. James Challenor stepped up and followed his normal short corner ritual and duly powered home two superb goals. Tryfan Venables who was the second team player of the season and the U18 Welsh international and young player of the season Duncan Langston worked exceptionally hard to create a number of chances.
In the second half Chester dominated, Ben Scott pounced on a poor pass to round the keeper and James Nairn who is the first team player of the season pounced on a rebounded short corner to roof the ball. Disbury were able to mount a brief fight back as Chester poured forward and the scored a pair of penalty corners. However Australian Brett Depster, Sean Blain and Adam Cliff were clinical in front of the Didsbury goal to convincingly beat the third placed team. An outstanding season well led by coach Matt Oakley.
