Chester Ladies 2's got to try out their new pitch at Abbey Gate College last Saturday against visitors, Winnington Park. In the previous encounter, the visitors had given the Chester ladies a hard game and had bagged themselves a win. Chester were adamant the tables were going to be turned on this fixture.

Chester were out of the traps and on the game from the start, scoring the first goal within the first minute. This rattled the opposition and fired up the Chester ladies more. Chester continued to work the ball up the pitch well and repeatedly put the opposition under pressure which resulted in 2 more goals being scored by Chester, all while the efforts of the visitor’s key player and main scorer were being dampened by the dogged, defensive duo of Corinne Boothroyd and Nici Gelder.

3-0 at half time to Chester.

Chester knew the opposition were going to come out fighting in the second half and they most certainly did. With a change of tactics, Winnington Park were persistently finding themselves in the Chester circle and this resulted in them scoring 3 goals. Chester then adapted to the oppositions change of style, regained their composure and put away 2 more.
