This week Chester 2's welcomed Oxton for what turned out to be a goalfest for the Chester Ladies. Full credit to the Chester ladies however, as Oxton were far from easy opposition, placing the Chester defence under pressure numerous times in the game.

Chester took their time to settle before starting to line the goals up on the scoreboard. There were numerous opportunities to score in the first half with Martine Green deciding to play the crossbar challenge by herself and managed to hit the crossbar not once, but in striking the rebound, hit it again. Several shots were also seen going over the top. Martine did find the back of the goal before half time however, which meant Chester led 1-0 at half time.

The magic Jelly Babies were passed around during the half time team talk and the combination seemed to do the trick. Chester started playing some lovely hockey and the goals started going in. Oxton also found the top right corner of the goal, as a result of follow up play from a penalty corner, but that was all the Chester defence were letting them have.

In a tessellation of triangles Chester drifted up the pitch time after time, creating a storm of attacks. The midfield and forwards linked up to tease, taunt and tantalise the Oxton ladies. Jess Parkinson got her name on the scoreboard following some smooth link up play with Martine Green, and then got herself a second goal through a deflection on the right hand post in a well worked penalty corner routine. Outstandingly Martine Green put on a mesmerising performance that saw her put a total of 5 goals away. Final score Chester 7 Oxton 1. Boom!
