From the outset Chester were quick and strong in their attacks, with Claire Gledhill securing the lead within just forty-five seconds of the first whistle, leaving the opposition stunned. However within minutes, Northop had regained their composure, winning them a penalty corner, which led to them scoring the equalizer.
Defender Mel Kawycz soon stepped up for Chester, fighting to push the ball over the goal line after some fine saves from Northop’s keeper and defenders alike, and giving Chester the advantage at the half-time whistle.
In the second half both teams upped their game, resulting to a very back-and-forth nature of play. Pressure was piled on by Chester however, breaking down the Northop’s defence time and again, forcing diving saves from their keeper.
To round it all off, Chester put another goal past Northop, Lauren Calvert slipping the ball into the back of the net.
