Runcorn were chasing promotion and provided a vocal crowd to spur on both teams. However it was Chester who scored first via Rob Mason. Runcorn then pressed hard and despite several good saves they were able to breach Daf Jones’ goal twice. At half time Chester re grouped however Runcorn were able to capitalise on a couple of defensive errors and benefited from a cruel deflection to lead 4 -1. Captain Sam Chapman fresh from a full body rebuild urged the side into action and Mason hit the target again. Chester piled on the pressure with Alex Mosquera and Hari Bansil fresh from their National School Final on Friday both providing valuable contributions in the final minutes to bring the score back to 4 -3. Unfortunately Chester were unable to complete their comeback. The only side to beat Chester twice were duly crowned champions.
