This was a Chester side full of experience and flair. Paul Williams controlled the defence and provided a good platform for the inform Barnard to cause the visitors a host of problems. Paul North slotted home at the far post and Barnard roofed the ball from a penalty corner. Macclesfield did put a spell of good play together in the second half, however Chester were always in control.
