Chester travelled away to Whitchurch with a team consisting of 4 players who hadn't picked up a stick since last season and several others who had only managed one game so far this year. Despite these challenges the team worked very hard to contain a lively, skilful opposition playing their first game in this league. It was one way traffic for much of the 1st half with wave after wave of attacks foundering on the steady tackling and excellent positional play of Uddin and Knight who were closely covered by the outstanding Sillett who swept behind then with enthusiasm and athleticism. Swift on his return from a year's globetrotting gave his all throwing himself into numerous tackles and interceptions with gusto making sure the opponents knew they were in a closely fought game.
Rich Nic ran himself into the ground plowing a lonely furrow at centre forward as Chester's packed midfield nullified their opponents skilful attacks. Man of the match Sillett undoubtedly kept the visitors in the game earning them a hard fought point in their first game.
Team selection has not been published for this fixture yet.
