Chester U14 Boys vs Timperley U14 Boys

Chester 7 – Timperley 1

Following tough training sessions used to build both fitness and a strong team ethos the Chester U14 boys team showed exactly that and made an excellent start to their campaign in the 2017 England Junior Hockey Championships.

Displaying excellent attacking hockey of the highest order the boys embraced the “team first” strategy encouraged by their coaches and introduced to them during a recent visit to the club by Chester alumni and current GB hockey captain Phil Roper.

Regular rotation kept the pressure relentless and unyielding on the opposition with the Chester side leading 3-0 at half time. Leading by example Chester Captain Alex Mosquera anchored a dynamic midfield in partnership with the super skilful Sam Moulson and the defensively minded Sean Standen. Kyle Preston and Jake Arnott played a major role in midfield outplaying the opposition at every turn. Excellent passing hockey was displayed by Max Gordon and James Lathaen on the wings feeding balls in and unleashing aggressive attacks by forwards Tom Ferdenzi, Will Atkinson, Christopher Gray and Henry Cook. The defensive wall was solid and strong with Josh Curry, Will Yeoman, Edmund Hartley and Conall Dalgarno blocking and distributing as a formidable unit. Goalkeeper Harry Lloyd-Brown was immense marshalling his defence and making athletic saves including an important save from a penalty flick.

The game ended with a 7-1 win for the Chester boys who trotted off the pitch with grins on their faces.

The boys had done everything their coaches asked of them, everyone attacked and everyone defended all with maximum effort and it paid off with a very solid win. Onwards next to a challenging match against Brooklands in two weeks time!

Scorers: Tom Ferdenzi (4), Will Atkinson, Henry Cook, Alex Mosquera
