Chester Ladies 3s faced table toppers Wilmslow 2s on another rainy and windy Saturday afternoon. Chester started strongly and dominated early possession, but solid defending from Tracy Lynn, Juliette Old, Nikitha Sathyamoorthy and Rosie Llewelyn-Jones limited Wilmslow opportunities and Emily Cartwright made some important saves in goal. Attacking defence set the platform for the midfield of Kate “Woz” Reynolds, Ellen Barry, Claudia Royle and Emma Archer to set up opportunities for Bethan Fossey and Shona Valentine unfortunately Chester were unable to convert their dominance into goals. Just before half time Chester lost Tracy Lynn to a knee injury and had to play the remainder of the game with 10 players.
Wilmslow scored quickly after the break and tried relentlessly to increase their advantage. Despite being a player down, Chester dug deep and never gave up, frustrating Wilmslow.

A fantastic, hard fought team performance from Chester, yielded several opportunities in the second half to draw level, but Chester could not convert. Excellent goalkeeping from Emily Cartwright, goal line clearances from Nikitha Sathyamoorthy and a well marshalled defence by Rosie Llewellyn-Jones ensured Wilmslow did not score again.
