Upon Chester 2's arriving at the Warrington pitch they were met with a padlocked gate with no other way in. This set the tone for the game to follow.

The pitch was soggy, the temperature was baltic and unfortunately this combination seemed to create a less ebullient Chester side than usual. Nevertheless, the game started and Chester got to work. Chester totally dominated the play with the defence and midfield working symbiotically so whenever the ball came into the Chester defensive zone, it was swiftly sent back up the pitch in an attacking move.

Against the run of play Warrington did manage to break into the Chester circle. The ball hit a Chester foot, followed by a Warrington foot, which resulted in several players on both sides stop playing expecting a whistle. It never came and in the melee, that followed, totally against the run of play, Warrington found the back of the Chester goal. 1-0 down at half time, Chester were not happy.

Warrington came out hard in the second half but Chester handled this and there was a concatenation of attacking moves resulting in an abundance of play in the Warrington circle but the ball just wouldn't go in the goal. The Chester goalkeeper didn't touch the ball at all in the second half so with 2 minutes to go she was switched for a kicking back. Chester stepped up the pressure for the last 2 minutes to no avail. 1-0 final score to Warrington.
