This was a rearranged fixture as the oppositions pitch was not fit to play on a few weeks ago. This meant a fair number of Chester 2's regular players were not available so there were some new faces in the squad line-up. The game was expected to be a fast, hard game as the games against this side always were and it didn't disappoint. Winnington had some pacy, skillful players that caused trouble for Chester as Chester were getting used to how each other played and unfortunately this resulted in 3 early goals for them. Chester then clicked and there were some really good performances from many of the Chester players. Chester entered the attacking circle numerous times and more frequently as their confidence as a team grew. No further goals scored in the first half so 3-0 to Winnington Park at half time.
A few tactical changes made by the Chester management at half time made a big difference in the second half and this resulted in a lot more attacking play and several penalty corners being earned. There was some well worked play and more pressure applied by Chester which resulted in a well-deserved goal, scored by Emma Archer. Chester continued to keep the pressure on but then Winnington Park broke through and from a fantastic individual run and play resulting in an unstoppable shot at goal, they managed to bag another. Chester kept their heads and continued applying the pressure but just couldn't find the back of the net for another. Final score 4-1 to Winnington Park.
