On Sunday 3rd September, we welcomed back former Chester Hockey Club player and current England and Great Britain co-captain Phil Roper and Welsh International Alex Humphreys to the club. Phil and Alex led and directed a training session over the course of the day for a group of talented players from our junior section.

The club wishes to express its thanks to the University of Chester, for supporting us with the event by providing their excellent hockey pitch and facilities to host the session.

We are also happy to announce that during the training session, Phil was made the youngest Life Member of Chester Hockey Club by our current club president Steve Hyden who presented Phil with a specially inscribed tankard. As many of you will know Phil started playing hockey at Chester, before moving to university and then on to greater things with Wimbledon Hockey Club, England and Great Britain. He currently has 49 England and 25 Great Britain caps. He undoubtedly is an inspirational hockey player and thoroughly deserves the life membership of our club.
