Chester Hockey Club participated throughout the summer in the First Neston Mixed Summer League, the team came up against Oxton, Bebington and Neston during the tightly fought league. Chester were in contention and showed the potential of winning the league, going into the last game if Chester won they would win the league, but game up against a strong opposition and were unable to convert the final ball into the Oxton goal.

Chester finished Second in the league, with 2 wins, 2 draws and 2 losses (unfortunately). Throughout the league Chester had a total of 32 players, of which 17 were female and 15 male of which 7 players were new to the club. The team scored a total of 9 goals with the greatest result during the Neston return match with a 5-0 win.

Despite the team changing on a weekly basis, there were always key members to the team who showed to be core to ensuring the team ’s success. The team played some skillful and strong hockey during the games despite a number of decisions not going their way. The team showed strong will and humour even at the times where the team may not have had 11 players on the pitch. Thank you to every player for their dedication and team spirit.
