Chester Hockey Club junior players Alex Mosquera, Hari Bansal and Harry Lloyd-Brown were picked for the U13 2017 Tensworth squad.

Following four Saturdays of high tempo trials in April and May at Bowden and Brooklands. Chester Hockey Club junior players Alex Mosquera, Hari Bansal and Harry Lloyd-Brown were picked for the U13 2017 Tensworth squad.

Tensworth is a high-performance hockey team, made up of players picked from clubs based in the Northwest of England, which competes in the UK Lions tournament held at the Nottingham Hockey Centre between regional teams from across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

The Tensworth squad of 36 continued to train together on Saturdays through May and June and then travelled to Nottingham on the weekend of the 9th-11th June for the tournament. Living and eating together in a team hotel for the full 3 days with their coaches was a great experience for the boys.

Hari and Alex represented Tensworth in the UK Lions "Championship" with their team winning its pool via several tough matches, their scores were 2-0 against South Saxons, 7-2 against Midlands Marauders, 6-0 against South Scotland and 2-0 against Annadale (Ulster). Following a tough semi-final against Ulster Tigers which unfortunately they lost 0-1, Hari and Alex and their team won the 3/4th place playoff against West Panthers with a 1-1 final time score followed by 3-2 win on penalty shuffles. Finishing 3rd was a great result for the boys who played hockey of the very highest pace and quality throughout the tournament.

Harry represented Tensworth as goalkeeper in the UK Lions "Trophy" tournament. Harry's team finished top in the pool stage winning 2-0 against North-East, 7-0 against West Scotland Cubs and 5-1 against West England Panthers. They went on to win their semi-final 4-0 against West Scotland and then fought extremely hard for a 2-1 win against North-East in the final. Harry had a brilliant tournament keeping the ball out of the net whilst strongly marshalling his defence before being awarded a gold medal and his team the UK Lions Trophy.
