Lost 4-3
Scorer - Bart Ryan-Beswick, Pete Evans, Simon Jones
MOM - Vince Richardson

Chester’s poor run of results continued as they hosted league leaders Alderly Edge on an arid Saturday morning. The home side started the strongest, with Bart Ryan-Beswick slotting home a trademark reverse stick strike. Chester doubled their lead when Pete Evans added to his impressive tally for the season. With Chester 2-0 to the good and coasting, the momentum took an unfortunate switch. Alderley started to fight back, and a penalty stroke along with three cleverly worked goals saw a thrilling first half close with Chester 4-2 behind. The second half was a far more open affair with Chester pulling a goal back through Simon Jones , but the match ended in favour of Alderly Edge, cementing Chester’s position at the foot of the table.

Whitley Bay Men's 1s Vs Chester Men's 1s - Saturday 3rd December 2011

Lost 3-1
Scorer - Simon Jones
MOM - Matthew Thombs

Chester’s dismal run of form continued with a 3-1 loss to the hands of Whitley Bay 1st XI. After making the long trip north, Chester struggled to get control of possession during the first ten minutes and were quickly on the back foot after conceding a penalty corner. Shortly after the opening goal, the momentum swung and Chester started to create a number of opportunities. A breakaway goal by the home-side made it 2-0, before Simon Jones’ audacious flick pulled the scores closer together. Chester continued to pile on the pressure – and looked like the better side – but a second counter attacking goal saw Whitley Bay take all the spoils. The final game before the Christmas break will see a resurgent Chester team take on Sheffield Hallam at home.

Chester Men's 1s Vs City of Manchester Men's 1s - Saturday 26th November 2011

Lost 3-1
Scorer - Bart Ryan-Beswick
MOM - John Roper

Chester Men’s 1s poor run of results continued as they slumped to a third successive defeat at home to City of Manchester Men’s 1s. The home side started brightly when a superb solo effort from Bart Ryan-Beswick put them ahead, but they were soon exposed by some fast, counter-attacking hockey resulting in a 3-1 loss.

Stockton Men's 1s Vs Chester Men's 1s - Saturday 19th November 2011

Lost 4-0

Despite starting the game in style when a solo effort from Bart Ryan-Beswick rattled the crossbar, Chester struggled to hold their own in an open and fiery encounter away at Stockton. Conceding two in either half, Chester succumbed to three penalty corners and a flowing counter attack. The travellers were unable hold possession for any meaningful length of time, leaving Stockton to run out worthy 4-0 winners. Chester will be hoping for a much improved performance and a return of top scorer Pete Evans when at home to City of Manchester this week.

Didsbury Northern Men's 1s Vs Chester Men's 1s - Saturday 12th November 2011

Lost 4-2
Scorer - Dave Hughes (2)
MOM - Paddy Bingham

Fresh off their victory at home to Crewe, Chester travelled to Didsbury Northern in the hope of finding back to back victories. It all started well for Chester who looked comfortable throughout the first half. Didsbury regretted allowing centre-half Dave Hughes two sights of goal, as he clinically slotted home from a penalty corner and penalty stroke. After a dubious decision leading to a penalty corner for the home side, Didsbury pulled one back with the last touch of the half. Unfortunately, the second half was a different story and Chester found themselves on the back foot, unable to keep hold of possession. Despite goalkeeper Paddy Bingham marshalling a dogged defence, Didsbury stepped it up a level and continued to build momentum. At the final whistle Chester were left rueing their second half performance and will be hoping for a return to the form for their long away trip to Stockton this week

Chester Men's 1s vs Crewe Vagrants Men's 1s - Saturday 5th November 2011

Won 2-1
Scorer - Pete Evans (2)
MOM - Pete Evans

In what proved to be a close encounter, Chester 1st XI picked up their second win of the season with a 2-1 score line at home to Crewe. All the action came in the second half with Man of the Match Pete Evans’ two goals proving to be decisive. Despite missing a penalty stroke, Chester dominated proceedings on the day, limiting Crewe to only a handful of opportunities. The away side managed to pull a goal back late on, but at the final whistle Chester ran out worthy winners.

Chester Men's 1s vs Urmston Men's 1s - Saturday 29th October 2011

Lost 5-2
MOM - David Newman

Chester 1st XI were hoping to get their season back on track when playing host to Urmston 1st XI this weekend. In a nightmare start, less than a minute had passed when the home side’s defence was caught napping. With a fast and direct approach the league leaders Urmston were three goals to the good in a half where Chester dominated possession. After the interval two cleverly crafted penalty corners brought the scores closer, but it wasn’t to be Chester’s day with Urmston finding the net twice more to finish proceedings at 5-2. Man of the match David Newman’s return to the side was the only solace Chester could take from the fixture.
