Chester were under pressure from the start as Timperley played with 11 outfield and used their extra player to full advantage; despite this added pressure, Chester remained defensively strong and continued to attack with confidence. They had several attempts on goal but were unable to convert until 20 minutes into the first half. This began a string of well executed goals from Ellie Kerney-Mitchell and Debbie Overton in the first half. Chester returned stronger and more focussed for the last 35 minutes, keeping the majority of play in their half and securing the win with three more goals from Clare Kaye and Becky Neary. Excellent work from the defence saw Timperley denied several chances at goal from the break.

After a slow, shaky start Chester began to play the ball around well and were soon attacking with confidence. Their first goal came from a fantastic spell of build-up play to give Debbie Overton her first of three. Winnington soon equalised from the break and after half time they found a second goal, but Chester fought back again and again. Chester continued to build play, they made the most of a short corner opportunity and despite a number of injuries, the team stayed strong to seal the win.
