Chester ladies 1s finally had something to smile about after a convincing win over pointless Harrogate at home on Saturday. The visitors, rooted to the foot of the table, came in high spirits hoping to kick start their season, but were no contest for a very determined Chester side. The host’s relentless pressure on the Harrogate defense saw them 1-0 up mid way through the first half thanks to a quickly taken short corner that was well driven in by Nia Hughes. Chester soon doubled their led with another goal following a short corner, this time turned in by Donna Richards after Claire Gledhill saw her attempt defected. The second half saw more of the same from the Chester side and two further goals for Richards completed her hat-trick, both goals coming thanks to two superbly accurate assists from Claire O’Hara. On a day for short corners, the visitors put up a late fight and converted two of their own giving the home side

Chester Ladies' 1s vs Kendal Ladies' 1s - Saturday 5th November 2011

The ladies' 1s played host to newly promoted Kendal, a side who have had impressive results against the leagues top sides. The home side found themselves behind mid way through the first half and the score remained 1-0 at half time. The second half saw a much improved Chester side who finally saw their efforts pay off with a well converted short corner from Martine Green. Captain, Donna Richards, soon put the home side ahead with a diving deflection that passed through the goal keepers legs, only for the away side to equalise soon after. Green again found the back of the net following a superb ball from Claire O'Hara who assisted from right back in Chester's defensive D. However even this wasn't enough to give Chester all 3 points as Kendal again equalised with 10 minutes to go.

Brooklands Poynton Ladies' 2s vs Chester Ladies' 1s - Saturday 29th October 2011

Chester travelled to the leavy suburbs of Sale on Saturday for and encounter with Brooklands/Poynton, who narrowly beat them there last season. The 16 strong Chester squad twice came close to scoring early in the first half, but to no avail. The Chester side had the majority of the possesion thoughout the entirenty of the game but were unable to make it count, as both sides struggled to force either goalkeeper to make saves of any note. The full time whistle was welcomed and the teams share the points.

Chester Ladies' 1s vs Bolton Ladies' 1s - Saturday 22nd October 2011

The ladies 1s record their first win of the season with an impressive 3-1 win over a strong Bolton side.
Chester found themselves 1-0 up within the first minute of the game, thanks to an impressive burst forward by Charlotte Davidson who sailed past three Bolton players. Davidson in turn found Nia Hughes who slotted the ball past the Bolton keeper with a superb strike. The remainder of the first half, which ended 1-1, was an end to end affair which required Chester keeper Tracey Hunt to pull off some impressive saves. The second half saw more of the same but Chester converted more of their chances while the defence kept Bolton at bay. Martine Green finished well from a short corner and Claire Gledhill tipped the ball past the Bolton keeper following a quick Chester break. The 3-1 win saw Chester climb 2 places in the league.

Ben Rhydding Ladies' 1s vs Chester Ladies' 1s - Saturday 15th October 2011

Chester ladies 1s travelled north of Bradford to Ben Rhydding, to face the team who lay top of the table and unbeaten to date. Chester started well and were first to create a chance that was well saved, however the Yorkshire side soon found themselves ahead and were 4-0 up at half time. The second half saw Chester step up a gear and captain Donna Richards scored arguably the goal of the game thanks to a superb team move that started with a long pass out of defence from Mel Coulson. Ben Rhydding found the net on a further three occasions in the second half to finish comfortable 7-1 winners.

Chester Ladies' 1s vs Sheffield Hallam Ladies' 1s - Saturday 8th October 2011

Chester ladies 1s played host to a strong Sheffield side on Saturday and were unable to find their first home win of the season. Chester's first half performance, which earned them a round of applause from coach Keith Roper at the break, was the best displayed under the coach to date. The half, that consisted of several Chester chances that went either agonisingly wide or were well defended, left left both teams goalless at half time. The beginning of the second half saw more of the same from Chester, until midway through when Sheffield broke the deadlock from a short corner. However, new girl Fran Gibson soon equalised thanks to a mix up at the top of the D during a Chester short to level the game once again. Sheffield responded well and took charge of the game for the remainer of the half, scoring twice more from set pieces
